Aidan O'Brien today reported Idaho in good heart following his fine runner-up effort in yesterday's Irish Derby at the Curragh.

The Galileo colt, who had been third at Epsom, pushed Harzand hard as he completed the Derby double, going down by half a length.

"Idaho is fine this morning. I thought he would progress and he did but Dermot's horse just outfought us in the last 50 yards,” said the master of Ballydoyle.

“US Army Ranger will have two to three easy weeks and we will see where we go with him then,” added O'Brien

The champion trainer also raised the possibility that The Gurkha could line up in the Eclipse at Sandown next Saturday.

"We are considering a few horses but the ground looks like it is going to be soft and that may go against Deauville and Long Island Sound.

"The Gurkha did nothing last week. He may do a bit this week, and we'll see after that."
