The COLM QUINN BMW Mile Handicap is the feature event on day two of the 2016 Galway Festival and the weights are headed by Baraweez.

Brian Ellison's six-year-old has won at the meeting for the past two years and was second in this event 12 months ago and third the season before that, and is joined in the race by stable companions Top Notch Tonto and Stipulate.

The home team features the Ger Lyons-trained Brendan Brackan, who took this prize three years ago and was fifth last year.

Creggs Pipes is seeking a four-timer, while Dermot Weld is represented by Ashraf and the less-exposed Karalara.

Weld's grip on the COLM QUINN BMW EBF Fillies Maiden has loosened slightly in recent runnings but the master of Rosewell has major claims this time with Eziyra.

The daughter of Teofilo made a very pleasing beginning when second at Tipperary and it should have brought her on.

Her stablemate Sikanadarabad returns from over a year on the sidelines in the Caulfield Industrial EBF Maiden but standing in his way is Jim Bolger's 93-rated Saafarr, who has kept excellent company and wasn't beaten all that far in the Derrinstown back in May.

Malinka hasn't had much racing but Weld's patience with her was rewarded with a Limerick success in April, and she could be well treated in the Caulfield Industrial Handicap.

The focus is on the jumpers at the start of the card and Joseph O'Brien's promising Oathkeeper attempts to make it two from two over obstacles in the opening COLM QUINN BMW Novice Hurdle at 5.15.

There is a touch of star quality in the Latin Quarter Beginners Chase when Briar Hill tackles fences for the first time.

The 2013 Champion Bumper hero has had his problems since then but is still only eight and there is plenty of time for him to fulfil his early potential.
