Roger Sweeney reports Salsify in good shape after his fourth placed effort in the Leopardstown Inn Hunters Chase on Sunday.

The 12-year-old, a dual winner of the Foxhunters at Cheltenham, showed he still retains some of his old sparkle when beaten just eight lengths behind Foxrock in a strong contest.

Plans are fluid for the Beneficial gelding and Sweeney hopes to know more later in the week when his charge returns to work.

"He came out of the race alright," said Sweeney.

"It was a good run and he's coming back to the old man that he was.

"I don't know what we'll do but we'll try and avoid the horse that won it anyway as he seems to be mopping up all the hunter chases in Ireland.

"I'll make my mind up on plans at the end of the week when he does a bit of work and we see how he comes out of it."

Sweeney is keeping his options open and a return to Prestbury Park could still be a possibility for the former champion.

"You can never rule out anything with horses."
