Aidan O'Brien is optimistic Gustav Klimt will make a swift return to full fitness after a minor setback ruled him out of the National Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

The exciting Galileo colt was the ante-post favourite but he was forced on to the sidelines on the morning of the race due to a stone bruise.

O'Brien told the Irish Independent: "It's only a small thing and we hope to have Gustav Klimt in full work in the next week to 10 days."

Gustav Klimt won the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket on his most recent outing and could return to the same track to contest the Group One Darley Dewhurst Stakes on October 14.
