Coolongolook was easy to back in Downpatrick but enjoyed a comfortable victory in the extended two and a quarter mile maiden hurdle.

The favourite drifted out to 6/4 from even money but saw it out well once steered into the lead after the penultimate flight.

He took the honours by four and three quarter lengths from Walking In Memphis who was the subject of a gamble from 9/1 down to 7/2 on the off. Mister Capitano was a further six lengths away in third at 3/1.

Jockey Jack Kennedy said: "It was a nice run in Gowran on his first run over hurdles. There's probably still a little bit of room for improvement.

"He would want to have been winning that, it was a fairly moderate race.

"Yeah he did (jump better than in Gowran), he jumped very well bar one or two today, so he did it well in the end."
