The ground at Punchestown, ahead of its weekend fixtures, is currently soft to heavy (on the hurdle and bumper courses) and soft to heavy, heavy in places on the chase and cross-country courses. There is fresh ground for the hurdle track for both days.

Meanwhile at Cork, the ground is soft on the hurdle course and soft to heavy, heavy in plces on the chase track.

The forecast is for rain or drizzle later today, but Saturday and Sunday will be cold and generally.

Carlingford Stakes preview

Trainer Mick Halford feels Banna Boirche's fondness for Dundalk will stand him in good stead for the Carlingford Stakes on Friday night.
