The horse he beat in a point-to-point at Monksgrange, War On, won a novice hurdle at Wetherby on Saturday so it's hardly surprising to see a bit of interest in the market this morning for Rock Me John at Fakenham.

Now ridden by Thomas Flint for his father John in the Wensum Selling Handicap Hurdle at 1.00, Rock Me John needs to put his previous racecourse form behind him but returning from a break perhaps a better showing is in the offing.

Rock Me John (the fourth horse, Elmbridge Squire, from Monksgrange, has landed a maiden 'point' since) has been clipped in from as big as 12s earlier into a general 7/1 for today's event (at 10.50 approx).

Caim, County Wexford owner/trainer Paul Delaney struck in division two of the five-year-old geldings' maiden at the Bree Foxhounds point-to-point at Monksgrange back in March with the Mark Slevin-partnered Rock Me John.

The Zagreb bay came from off the pace to lead before the penultimate fence and, although he got in close to the last, he stretched away to win in good style by eight lengths.

"I've just the one horse and do all the riding myself. He is my only horse in training and he's for sale. I've only ever had three horses and he is my first winner," Delaney said afterwards. (EM)
