The meetings scheduled to take place at Southwell on Monday and Tuesday have both been abandoned.

Monday's card was called off on Sunday morning with parts of the track waterlogged and further issues in some of the racecourse buildings.

Officials had been due to inspect the racecourse at 8am on Monday for Tuesday, but saw no reason to delay the inevitable and abandoned that card later on Sunday.

The Nottinghamshire circuit is also due to stage a fixture on Wednesday.

That meeting is, however, subject to an 8am inspection on Monday. Southwell clerk of the course Roderick Duncan said: "The track has not worsened, but all the buildings and the offices are going under water.

"There is further rain forecast - it's not going to improve.

"We are still going to have a look on Monday morning at 8am for Wednesday to see if things have improved."
