Jump Boys, a behind-the-scenes documentary focusing on top National Hunt jockey’s Ruby Walsh, Davy Russell and Barry Geraghty, will be screened on TG4 tomorrow evening, Wednesday November 28, at 9.30pm.

The hour-long programme follows the three riders over a six-month period (November 2011 to April 2012) last season, and captures some memorable moments for the trio.

The firm crew were with Walsh as he made racing history aboard Kauto Star, landing the King George V1 Chase at Kempton last Christmas for a record fifth time.

They also followed Geraghty as he rode five winners at the Cheltenham Festival, and captured the excitement of Russell’s first Irish jump jockeys title success.

All three riders discuss their fears and insecurities, chronicle their gruelling schedules and outline the fragile nature of their livelihood. It’s the first time a production company has been afforded such unique access into the lives of top professional jockeys.

“Jump Boys” was produced by Stephen Cullinane and Denis Kirwan of Touchline Media, and directed by Luke McManus.

The programme will be repeated on TG4 next Saturday, December 1, at 10pm.
