As speculation continues about the depth of Flemenstar's stamina, his year older full-brother Barafundle will bid to again show the staying-power of the family when he contests the three mile Blue Square Bet Handicap Hurdle at Haydock today.

Trained by Jennie Candlish and ridden by Alan O'Keeffe, Barafundle will have to defy the burden of eleven stone twelve in heavy ground.

Plenty think he'll prove up to the task in the 3.25 as he appears on Paddy Power's steamers page, shortening up from 11/2 into 4/1.

In the same section on that website, Mark Molloy's former 'pointer' Ely Brown has been clipped in from 5s to 4s for the same event.

With Gavin Sheehan riding the market-leading Duke Of Monmouth and Tom O'Brien on Philip Hobbs' ex-Irish 'pointer' Joseph Mercer (he won at Kirkistown for Brian Hamilton) there is plenty for enthusiasts over here to monitor. (EM)
