Twenty year old Conor Walsh registered his first career winner at Limerick today when steering the Willie Murphy trained Sacre Malta to win the Limerick Racecourse Vets Handicap Hurdle.

The son of Discover D'Auteuil led after the third last flight and stayed on well in the straight to record a 15 lengths win over Billybuster

Murphy later stated “my horses have been very sick and this horse was my last winner last New Year's Eve. It has taken the horses a long time to get over it. Sacre Malta is entered at Punchestown and Tramore over the next few days and may run again.”

Walsh, from Killurin, Co Wexford, added “I was previously with Jim Bolger but am now based with Paul Nolan. That was my 12th ride over hurdles.”
