Shanroe Society continued a good start to the new year for trainer James Lambe when landing the two-mile handicap hurdle at Thurles.

Ridden by his stepson Liam McKenna the Definite Article gelding landed a nice touch for connections, as he was backed from 8/1 (11/1 in morning) into 9/2.

McKenna produced his mount, travelling well, to lead at the second last and he was soon in command.

He was always doing enough to post a five-length winning margin over C'est La Mode

Lambe had saddled a double at Ayr yesterday and has his string in fine form:-

“The horses are running well and I'm happy with that. I'm delighted for his owner Brian Smyth as he has been a very good supporter of ours.

“It's great for this horse as he had a bad injury and it's great to get a win with him. It's also great for Liam – that's his third winner.”
