2008 Champion Hurdle winner Katchit has died of colic, aged ten.

The Kalanisi gelding was trained by Alan King to win the Triumph Hurdle in 2007 and claimed the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham the following year.

He was initially trained on the Flat by Mick Channon, winning once in a ten furlong handicap before his switch to jumping.

He won ten times over hurdles including three Grade One contests. He had his last run when a distant third at Ascot in Novemer 2011.

His regular jockey Robert Thornton tweeted:- “No words I can write can explain how much the little warrior meant to myself and the team at Barbury. RIP little man.”
