He'd been showing consistent form but Reality Dose (8s into 13/2) hardly looked a winner waiting to happen. However he belied that notion in no uncertain terms when dropping to the minimum trip – emphatically taking the Cheltenham Trial Day 24th February Handicap Chase at Naas under Declan Bates.

Yeoman made a bold bid on the pace but Adrian Heskin's mount had no more to give from the last. He faded to finish four as Reality Dose strode clear to beat fellow Wexford raider, Hold Em Cowboy, by twelve lengths.

Liz Doyle trains Reality Dose for her father Fred and she revealed: "The trainer kept getting the trip wrong for him. Eventually the penny dropped.

"He wasn't finishing out his races so it was obvious to drop him back to two miles.

"He's got big feet and he handles that ground well. There's a Martinstown race for him in Down Royal now and Declan will be able to ride him again." (GC & EM)
