Jim Culloty feels Lord Windermere's future lies over three miles after his pride and joy was a close second at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The seven-year-old stayed on well to get within a half a length of Texas Jack over two miles five furlongs in a Grade Two novice chase.

The Mallow trainer is keen to step Lord Windermere up in trip and is looking forward to running him over further.

"I want to step him up to three miles and had him in at Naas last week but took him out because of the ground," Culloty told At The Races.

"With a horse like him we are dreaming of Cheltenham and I didn't want to leave my race at Naas.

"Yesterday was an inadequate trip, it's as simple as that. He finished staying on and we're looking forward to the future with him.

"He'll go to the Cheltenham. It will probably be the RSA, but it's yet to be discussed with his owner.

"He's in everything at Cheltenham. We'll see what's going where and we've plenty of time to think about it.

"I think the world of him and he's going to be one hell of a three-miler."
