David Pipe's expensive purchase Moon Racer may be sent over hurdles after his victorious debut for the yard at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Bought for £225,000 after winning a Fairyhouse bumper in April at 50/1 for Michael Ronayne, he lined up against a field full of previous winners yet destroyed them by pulling 12 lengths clear.

Pipe now plans to talk to joint owners, Bryan Drew and Professor Caroline Tisdall about whether to stay in bumpers or send him over obstacles.

"He was doing all the right things at home, but I was told during the afternoon that everyone was going to win it, so I thought that was that," said Pipe.

"He's come out of the race well, and I'll be talking to the owners later this week about whether we stay in bumpers or go hurdling."
