Indian Fairy has made a good start to her chasing career and on outing number two over the larger obstacles the daughter of Indian Danehill struck in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Mares) Beginners Chase at Clonmel.
Second to Kashline at Downpatrick just shy of a fortnight back, Indian Fairy (20/1) was again ridden by Adam O'Neill and today she led before the fourth last.
Five of the six participants still held a chance in the straight but it was the winner that found most when it was needed.
Although she had a reduced advantage close home Indian Fairy still had half a length in hand over Our Katie at the line.
"It was a good performance as she was meeting the others wrong on hurdle ratings but she's a serious mare to jump," enthused successful handler Eoin Doyle.
The local operator added: "She obviously came on from her run the last day and we decided to use her jumping out in front.
"She might go for a mares winners race and she has the option of going back over hurdles as well as she's probably well handicapped.
"She was taken off her feet in those summer races and she's better with that ease."
The Stewards enquired into possible interference approaching the second last fence involving Indian Fairy, ridden by A.F. O'Neill, placed first and Our Katie, ridden by B. Hayes, placed second. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judge's placings and took no further action.
