Ask Dad scores for English/O'Connor
I fancied him big time on Saturday, and he seems to be getting more and more confident. Donagh gave him a great ride. He's a much different horse to last year, and has come on again in confidence as much as anything. He's entered in the Curragh on Friday, and we'll see how he is in the morning before deciding anything. I think he can win a nice pot this season.
O'Donoghue gains more 'Oaks' glory
Settle For Red claims a third win
he came from England last year in mid-season and won in Dundalk and then we gave him a break. He's done well but I thought he might need it. He didn't cost too much and is owned by Mossy Casey who is a businessman from Cahir. Hopefully he'll run at the likes of Killarney and Galway over the summer.
Bargain buy Billie wins again
Ross (Coakley) is a good kid, and Warren O'Connor (jockey coach) should get some of the credit as he told him how to ride him. He's (Chillie Billie) a hardy auld devil, just like House Limit and it would be great to have a few more like them. He runs nearly every week and will be out again soon. The owner Breen White is a farmer from Castleblayney.
Pour Deux takes finale for Oxx
she had good form last year with three good runs. She is bred to stay a bit and we were hoping to stretch her out the last day but she was just too keen. She is nicely bred and a nice looker. She's owned by two breeders (Lady O'Reilly and Mrs Clodagh McStay), and will have to have a go in a Listed race. It's proper fast ground and I'm not sure any horse really wants it that quick but she handled it well.
