On the approach to the straight, supporters of GRANCORE GIRL might have been a little worried that Brian Hayes was leaving his mount with plenty to do, but the man on top knew better. Picking up in the style of a mare out of her class, she hit the front over a furlong out and quickly put eight lengths between herself and the opposition.
Tom O'Leary outlined plans afterwards, saying, ?she is going out to grass now and she'll go hurdling next season. Brian is very good value for his claim and he gave her a brilliant ride. He is going to be very good." A similar remark could be applied to Grancore Girl, a full-sister to Black Harry.
RATING QUEEN, always close up, had solid form coming here, but the fact that she was well put in her place by the winner, underlines how promising Grancore Girl is. There are undoubtedly further races to be won with Liz Doyle's runner.
The well-bred pair, SALLIE'S SECRET and STORM PLAN, third and fourth here, can do better in lesser company whilst EMILY PANKHURST put in a good debut effort. SHERCHANCEIT was eased when beaten and she can be forgiven on account of the hot company and the ground. SHADOW OF THE WIND might have been expected to do better. NOR PEOPLE was unfortunately put down after breaking a leg. EMILY'S CHOICE (coughing) was a non-runner.
