Darver Star He was supposed to win on ratings and it was a good performance. I don’t know if he really enjoyed that ground but he got away with it. When he jumps a fence he might improve again, and there is a good chance he could go chasing this season.

Aasleagh Fawn She was crying out for that trip on that ground,. The last day in Down Royal it just went too soft for her. I'm delighted as Mick (Rowland) is local here and lived in Navan for years so it's great for him.

Kaletto she made a bad mistake at the second last but I always think she had it and was always cruising best of them. Mark was saying she was in serious form at home and I school her a bit during the week. She was out with a stone bruise at Sligo the last day but luckily today suited her.

Darver Star After he won the last day I rang Sandy Shaw (handicapper) to tell him he had been very hard on him and had it out with him but have to apologise now. I didn't think he was that good so I'm obviously delighted,. I can't wait until he jumps a fence, he'll be a lovely horse over fences and please god he stays right and he'll go chasing shortly. He doesn't want knee-deep ground and doesn't want it too soft but will race away for the winter.

Aasleagh Fawn She was a little bit disappointing the last day as I thought she would nearly draw in Ballinrobe. The owners are local, so it's great to win for everyone. I would think so, definitely (jump a hurdle). We went to the Flat with her because she wasn't big enough but she is now.

Donacheady Gale I remember his dam (Aboo Who) winning the good hunters chase in Thurles. His dam was champion mare for a year - she was a very, very good mare,. He's a Kalanisi horse and I bought him in the Sales for small enough money. He had a drop in the Sales and just didn't look himself. I bought him off a friend of mine Will Delaney for small money. He's a gorgeous, big horse and he could be anything. He's a lovely horse. He was showing us that at home. Finny (Maguire) was mad about him and said 'John, you have a real, class horse.' He said he would be disappointed if he doesn't pick up a winners' bumper. We'll probably go for a winners' bumper next. He won well and we are delighted with him.

Pilgrim Way He had two bad legs but he’s come right now. They have done a good job on the ground and that’s what he wants. Frank McNulty (owner) has been very patient and it’s great that he’s got his reward. If the ground dries too much we’ll give him a break but there is a race in Tipperary (on May 23) that he could go for if the ground is alright. He’s had one run over fences before and eventually that’s where he will be heading. He travels fierce well but if he hits the front he thinks he’s enough done and Sean said the mistake early in the straight actually helped him as he’d have landed in front if he’d winged it.
