Darrens Hope A beginners' chase is what I have in mind for her now, but we just wanted to try and win a maiden hurdle with her first,. I was a small bit worried coming here with the opposition she was facing. That was a good run she had in Listowel though, and she should be a good chaser as she’s already won a point-to-point.

Empors Sword Her mother (Collou) won a bumper in Mallow and this is great. She was a very hard mare to keep right but we eventually got her right and I knew there was a race in her. I'm only a small-time trainer, I only have about three in training and we'll probably look for a handicap next. Darragh (Allen) is my neighbour, is a good friend and his brother Sean helps me out every day - it's great.

Drumacoo He has been unlucky and my horses haven't been well for the past couple of years. I knew he was coming though and Mark (McDonagh) gave him a nice ride. He was a very good horse one time, he likes soft ground and I didn't run Humm Baby in the race because she wouldn't handle it. I'll try and find a chase for him if I can but he had lost his bottle jumping fences.

Arthur's Baby She has run twice in a short period of time and even though she unseated early on her last run she still went away. I'm not sure where she'll go to be honest but she won't run too much more over hurdles.

Flamin Aimee Her point-to-point form overall had been quite disappointing. She had a good run the first day and then disappointed badly two days,. We brought her back in and changed it up a little bit. She lives in the field now since we brought her back in. Her Ballinrobe run was her first from the field and she had a good run that day and backed it up today. We're delighted with her and delighted for her owners (the Morrisseys). They have shown good patience with her and deserve a lot of credit for putting her back in and having another go at it. Maybe point-to-pointing wasn't her thing. We'll see what the handicapper thinks. Her jumping is very good and she probably needs a trip. I'd say she'll jump a fence sooner rather than later but we'll see what her mark over hurdles is first.

Oscar Thyne He's a big raw horse and it was nice to win a maiden with him. He's a chaser in the making,. He didn't really seem to handle the place very well and was off the bridle from a long way out. Two out I thought he was going to be well beaten but he battled well.

Ballycastle Girl We didn't expect it on that ground. The owner was thinking of pulling her out but I said we can always tell the jockey, if she's not enjoying it, to look after her and keep her for the next day. She's a little dinger! We knew the low weight would really suit her. She keeps delivering and the main thing is that they do it on the track. She's not the biggest and the low weight really suits her. If she got into a better race and only had 9-10 on her back that would suit. I don't know where we'll go next but she's done enough now anyway.

Arthur's Baby For a big mare, she obviously wants better ground. She is 16.3hh and is more a chaser than hurdler, but hasn't had niceish ground since her point-to-point; she was very good in her point to points.

Ballycastle Girl It’s a bit of a surprise and we would have been happy if she was fourth or fifth but she did run quite well at Bellewstown last year. We were disappointed with her other two runs. At Clonmel the ground was a bit hard and Punchestown was a bit tight on the inner track.

Oscar Montel he had two runs in Thurles that he'd be entitled to win that race but he has been a little in and out and twice he disappointed us. He stays every yard of three miles though and the ease in the ground was a help to him. He is a good tough horse and will make a nice chaser in time.

Run For Oscar He fell into the soft division - that's the way it goes and if you get the chances, you have to take them. He was caught a bit flat-footed but got up and that was the main thing - Philip (son) is used to that from the pony racing and this was his first ride around here. We'll see what mark he gets now but he (the handicapper) can't be too hard on him.
