Crosshue Boy It's been a massive week from Leopardstown Friday week ago to Wexford to here. We were lucky this was called off (on Saturday) as we couldn't have run in two places on the one day,. He's a fabulous horse when he's on form. He had a couple of good bumper runs and won three times over hurdles for me and then he just lost his way. We didn't know what was wrong with him but we gave him a break and he just started coming back to himself slowly. We are absolutely delighted. Hopefully there will be a race in Aintree for him, it would be great to have a runner over there. It will be one of the novice chases, we'll keep him a novice for the meantime. If that works out we'll go on to Punchestown for something similar. Trip and ground aren't a problem to him. Jumping is a big key to him and in fairness JJ (Slevin) was brilliant on him in Leopardstown but Harley does a lot of work and is closely related to Niall (Heffernan, owner) and he's brilliant on him too. I usually only get three wins a year so I am ahead of my target!

Golden Jewel He ran plenty free but he's that sort of little horse and even at home he's like that,. He did it well. I thought when he made the mistake two out he was in trouble but he still pulled it out. He seemed to love the ground and when I saw beforehand how good it was I was delighted and thought he'd have a chance. I've been hitting the crossbar recently, and had three seconds, so it's time one came home.

Youcantcallherthat It was great for the lads (Lostwelton Syndicate) who are great supporters of mine; there are six of them, all from Monivea, and I could hear them cheering on the run-in!. She shouldn't have run at Naas but the lads got a notion and told me to enter her and with the small field, it looked like she could get a bit of black-type but my chance as gone after two fences as she couldn't go with them over the trip. She's a proper staying mare and will probably go for the Graded Mares Chase at Limerick over St Patrick's weekend next. She will be ideal for all those staying handicaps next year too and they'll have plenty more fun with her.

Sunset Sadie They probably went a bit fast in front and she stayed going well. She had disappointed us at Christmas but we freshened her up since and she'll now continue to run away,. She handled that ground and we'll give her a few weeks before running again.

Samson Bill I was gutted when this meeting was cancelled a month ago, and that was the reason why! It’s great to have somewhere to go with these horses. It’s for horses rated 109 or less over hurdles, and they are very important for me and my owners. Without this race I’d have to race against maybe a 150 horse. It’s great that HRI are putting on more of these races and, if they put on more, then I can keep more owners in the game. I’m delighted for Billy Kelly, Noel Egan and Willie Carey, who bred him. He got injured twice and missed two years with tendons. The boys had the courage to bring him back and the patience to wait. He was a very promising big horse and is just hard to mind the legs. Hopefully the handicapper gives him a chance as he’s ten-year-old now. My other horse (Mister Butler) was not out of it. He came in the corner of my eye, and hopefully we will have a day with him.

Golden Jewel We thought he'd need the run and I didn't think that he would handle the ground as well as he did. Chris said he loved the ground,. We ran him one day in Thurles on that sort of ground and the lad came in and said he hated it. I'm gobsmacked to see him winning - and how he won. It's nice when it happens and we'll get the turkey now anyway!

Admiral Brian We didn't expect it today but he won and we'll take it. That's his first time running over three miles. We've been running him over two miles and he handled the ground well there when a lot of them didn't. He is consistent and we might go over fences now or else go to Leopardstown over Christmas for the Pertemps Qualifier.

Youcantcallherthat She couldn't win a hurdle race but won a point-to-point for me and I stopped the boys from selling her. I said she'd win plenty of chases and thank god she is repaying me now,. That's a good pot and she probably go into the mares' novice races at some stage. She got a fall in Wexford which may not have done her any harm and now she's jumping super. We won 23 lengths in Cork but I didn't know how solid the race was. I threw her in a handicap to see where we were, and I said to the boys it was such a good pot that we had to take our chance.

Broder The heavy ground didn't suit him at Cork the last day and it's not as bad today. I told the owner we'd go to Thurles where the ground wouldn't be as bad and he comes and wins. He is more a 2m4f horse and we'll look for something similar again before Christmas. He's turning out to be a nice horse. He jumps well and will be a nice chaser next year.
