Youcantcallherthat she's improving all the time but I thought it was going to be hard today giving 8lb and back in trip on tacky ground. She didn't travel great but from three out I knew nothing else was going real well either. She's a dream mare and after the last day we said we'd go for one more mares race and put her away for a bit. The boys live very close to Ballybrit (Galway) but the ground might be a bit good there but she'd love the track and the trip in the Galway Plate. We'll see what the handicapper does and I think she's 87 over hurdles so we'll try and exploit that somewhere and she should be able to scrape home off that!. Things couldn't be better and I'm really enjoying it. I have a great bunch of staff to work with and great owners. I really love the job and hopefully it'll keep going the way it's going.

Agent Boru it's unbelievable - I wish we could run all our horses here!. He's a good little horse this fella and I've run him in a few decent races and he wasn't a million miles away in a E100,000 race here at the beginning of the season. He's very quirky and twice he's been in a good position in a race but dropped himself out to an impossible position and came home like a freight train, so we've just been trying to figure him out. I think we are getting the hang of it and he was brilliant today. We tried these tactics the last day in Punchestown but they absolutely walked. I said to David Mullins that day 'are we getting it right or wrong' and he said you're spot on but the race didn't go to plan and to stick with it. That's what gave us the confidence to try and ride him the same today. He's in a 2m4f race at Punchestown and that's the one I've wanted to go for all season but I don't think he's going to get into it.

Crosshue Boy It's been a massive week from Leopardstown Friday week ago to Wexford to here. We were lucky this was called off (on Saturday) as we couldn't have run in two places on the one day,. He's a fabulous horse when he's on form. He had a couple of good bumper runs and won three times over hurdles for me and then he just lost his way. We didn't know what was wrong with him but we gave him a break and he just started coming back to himself slowly. We are absolutely delighted. Hopefully there will be a race in Aintree for him, it would be great to have a runner over there. It will be one of the novice chases, we'll keep him a novice for the meantime. If that works out we'll go on to Punchestown for something similar. Trip and ground aren't a problem to him. Jumping is a big key to him and in fairness JJ (Slevin) was brilliant on him in Leopardstown but Harley does a lot of work and is closely related to Niall (Heffernan, owner) and he's brilliant on him too. I usually only get three wins a year so I am ahead of my target!

Golden Jewel He ran plenty free but he's that sort of little horse and even at home he's like that,. He did it well. I thought when he made the mistake two out he was in trouble but he still pulled it out. He seemed to love the ground and when I saw beforehand how good it was I was delighted and thought he'd have a chance. I've been hitting the crossbar recently, and had three seconds, so it's time one came home.

Youcantcallherthat It was great for the lads (Lostwelton Syndicate) who are great supporters of mine; there are six of them, all from Monivea, and I could hear them cheering on the run-in!. She shouldn't have run at Naas but the lads got a notion and told me to enter her and with the small field, it looked like she could get a bit of black-type but my chance as gone after two fences as she couldn't go with them over the trip. She's a proper staying mare and will probably go for the Graded Mares Chase at Limerick over St Patrick's weekend next. She will be ideal for all those staying handicaps next year too and they'll have plenty more fun with her.

Sunset Sadie They probably went a bit fast in front and she stayed going well. She had disappointed us at Christmas but we freshened her up since and she'll now continue to run away,. She handled that ground and we'll give her a few weeks before running again.

Samson Bill I was gutted when this meeting was cancelled a month ago, and that was the reason why! It’s great to have somewhere to go with these horses. It’s for horses rated 109 or less over hurdles, and they are very important for me and my owners. Without this race I’d have to race against maybe a 150 horse. It’s great that HRI are putting on more of these races and, if they put on more, then I can keep more owners in the game. I’m delighted for Billy Kelly, Noel Egan and Willie Carey, who bred him. He got injured twice and missed two years with tendons. The boys had the courage to bring him back and the patience to wait. He was a very promising big horse and is just hard to mind the legs. Hopefully the handicapper gives him a chance as he’s ten-year-old now. My other horse (Mister Butler) was not out of it. He came in the corner of my eye, and hopefully we will have a day with him.
