Coolcashin opens chasing account

Coolcashin produced a fine front-running performance to land the Horse & Jockey Beginners Chase at Thurles.

Sent to the front at the seventh by Tom Doyle the Taipan gelding had things under control turning for home and went on to beat Sizing Australia by four lengths.

"He's a light framed horse and I didn't think he'd make a chaser," admitted winning trainer Michael Bowe.

"But he was very good there, very clever, and looks a natural. He gave an exhibition of jumping.

"I actually gave him a pop this morning so it would be on his mind. Tom gave him a marvellous ride."
