William Hill sponsor Free entry to Downpatrick

Downpatrick Racecourse, in conjunction with William Hill Bookmakers, have announced that patrons attending their next racemeeting on Saturday 16th October will gain free admission.

The track is celebrating the fact that horse racing first took place in Northern Ireland in 1685 (325 years ago). This was held within the Downpatrick area at an older course, very close the site of today’s track.

Tony Kenny, Public Relations Manager for William Hill said: 'We are delighted to be associated with Celebration Raceday hosted by Downpatrick Racecourse and have agreed to sponsor all seven races on the day. William Hill have 37 shops in Northern Ireland and we will happily encourage our customers to attend the races for avail of Free Race Admission.'

Acknowledging the exploits of the Down Football Team who were narrowly beaten by Cork in the All Ireland Football Final two weeks ago in Croke Park, there will be a Free Pint of Carling Beer for the first 325 visitors wearing Down colours in the special ‘Come on Down to Down’ marquee facility.

There will be Parade ring interviews with Celebrity Channel 4 Racing Presenter, Lesley Graham and live music after racing in a number of the raceday public bars. A very exciting prize will be on offer in the Racecard Draw, full details to be announced shortly.

The first race is at 2.10pm and the last race 5.20pm. Gates open at Noon.
