About Goodwood

Situated on the picturesque South Downs, high above the English south-coast town of Chichester, Goodwood is widely regarded as one of Britain's most beautiful racecourses, looking outwards towards the Channel.

The track itself is unique in more ways than one and the switchback nature of the course can often mean horses with previous experience and/or a good record at the venue benefit.

Glorious Goodwood has long been the midsummer highlight of the racing calendar in Britain. It follows hot on the heels of other major fixtures like Cheltenham Festival, offering fans another iconic experience in the racing season.

The track itself is right-handed with two bends. All races up to a mile and a quarter use the lower bend, and in excess of eleven furlongs use the top bend.

There is also a 5f straight course, regarded amongst the fastest five-furlongs in the world.

Goodwood is full of undulations and can be tricky in nature, a turn of foot is almost essential and some luck in running is often needed too, with big-field races tending to witness plenty of bad luck in-running and traffic woes.
