The stayers are in the spotlight on day 1 as the Goodwood Cup, run over two miles, is the feature race of the day.
Courage Mon Ami is current favourite for owners Wathnan Racing following his excellent Ascot Gold Cup victory.
There is however some tough opposition to fend off with Coltrane, who was a close second in the Ascot Gold Cup, prominent in the betting.
Aidan O'Brien's Emily Dickinson will appreciate any give in the ground and Marco Botti's Yorkshire Cup winner Giavellotto, who has been kept fresh for this.

The Sussex Stakes is more affectionately known as ‘the duel on the downs’ thanks to the exciting clashes between some of racing’s greatest on the Sussex downs through the years.
Paddington, unbeaten in his five starts this season, most recently in the Coral-Eclipse when fending off Emily Upjohn, looks an exciting stallion prospect for Coolmore and is odds-on favourite to land this contest for Aidan O'Brien.
Inspiral is a general 4-1 chance to get the better of Paddington and reappeared to finish an admirable second behind Triple Time in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot. Although the Prix Jacques Le Marois in Deauville could be an option for her.
The most significant market mover is Nostrum, an impressive winner of the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket's July Festival. Sir Michael Stoute's Kingman colt was returning from a long break since finishing third behind Chaldean in the Dewhurst last year. His price has shortened into around 5-1 to continue his progression as a three year old. Similar to Inspiral however, Paddington is scaring off some of his rivals and the Prix Jacques Le Marois is also a consideration for this colt.
Modern Games represents Godolphin.

On paper this looks like a race to savour and racegoers are in for a treat if Blue Rose Cen makes the trip over from France. The dual-Group 1 winner was last seen shrugging off her rivals in the Prix De Diane at Longchamp, which she won by an impressive four lengths.
Nashwa demolished her rivals in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket and is popular to see off the French raider.

Equality, winner of his last two races, will be popular in the market along with Ed Bethell's Regional, also the winner of his last two starts. Aidan O'Brien has Aesop's Fables, Statuette and The Antarctic among entries.

One of the trickiest handicaps to analyse and well known for its taxing nature when trying to find the winner.
Orazio, who is among market leaders, had won both starts this season before finishing sixth in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot. The winner of that royal contest was Saint Lawrence who is close behind in the betting at around 10-1 along with the second that day Apollo One.
Commanche Falls has triumphed in this race for the last two years and won a Listed race at the Curragh last time out, he is fancied to go well for astute trainer Michael Dods. Tiber Flow, Desert Cop and Kings Lynn are among others to look out for.
Tajalla is interesting for Roger Varian, the lightly-raced three-year-old was last seen finishing second in the Listed Scurry Stakes at Sandown.
Stephen Harris's Saturday Tip - 3:00 GOODWOOD Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) - FREE WIND 5/2 -John and Thady Gosden’s high class 5-y-o mare let down backers when hammered in the market for the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot behind Pyledriver, but she had excuses there (dropped out in rear and widest of all when rushed up to close), and can resume her progress in this valuable Group 2.
