Dahoma It was almost like Red Marauder's Grand National! This horse had so much experience in handicaps and had gone around in front in schooling races, so I was pretty sure he'd be honest enough to face the challenge of leading. He was a little sick last winter, he is only four and I think he might be better going left-handed. He is by Wooded, so I think he is a fast-ground two-miler and, leaving home, I had said to my father (Declan) that I thought today's race would suit. It was an ordinary race but I think there will be more to come and he can campaign away in 0-100s, as his mark probably won't change. . The nine-member syndicate are a great bunch of lads and include my mother's first cousin Liam Keating, who runs a bike-rental business on the Waterford Greenway in Kilmacthomas. They had no luck from five previous horses but stuck with it, and today, Liam came in asking where was the winners' enclosure! |

Tell The Boys She ran away with it and she has improved again today. From her work, I thought she had improved, she is fast and is a proper two-miler. The boys (Money For Jam Syndicate) were unlucky with The Big Doyen, who had to be retired, and I had bought this filly at Tattersalls, who had shown plenty, so told them she was theirs if they paid the €1,000 (her purchase price) Tattersalls bill. I'd say I was just in the right place at the right time at Tattersalls, as a lot of people were gone for lunch at the time. She's not small and I met Sally Ann Grassick, who is breeder Stephanie Hanly's daughter-in-law, and she said that she was a grand filly. She came cheap so it is a great story and the pressure is off now. I'm delighted for the syndicate as they deserve this. |

Rocky's Howya I thought he'd run well going to Wexford the last day when he was in against nice novices, but it is just funny the way the 'levels' work. He was rated nicely for that Wexford race but couldn't compete and was dropping back down today. A big effort goes in at home in keeping him right, he goes swimming and has been kept sweet. He is hard to place as he is old and rated high enough, but there are a couple of races coming up for him. |
