Bartholomew We liked him but I'd say he is still a bit immature. He is a stronger horse now though and has improved a bit. We'll enter him for the (Grade 1) four-year-old hurdle at Punchestown as he has beaten a horse rated 121 by ten lengths today, so we hope he is getting to that type of area. We were waiting for nice ground and he jumped well and was more professional today. We'll see how he is after his Punchestown race and he could come back for a late-summer, autumn campaign. On the Flat, he would want further than 1m4f but he'll have to have a break at some stage this summer too. |

Kaiser De Chanay I was surprised by the rating he got (119) from his Navan run but the fact he had run more than twice qualified him for today's race, which was an ordinary one,. Today's runner-up was having his first run over hurdles so he had the experience over him and jumps very well. He had finished second in a point-to-point near here in Turtulla and all-in-all it was a step forwards from his previous runs. We had been riding him wrong and not making enough use of him. . He gives horses 'leads' schooling over hurdles at home and had his ears pricked today, looking for the next jump. It was straightforward and we might give him one more run before the summer. |
