He jumped fantastic but was very lairy on his own in front. I looked through my legs after the third last and saw that something had obviously gone amiss with Danny (Mullins aboard stablemate Jimmy Du Seuil). After that it was just a case of getting him home. At the last I said ‘just don’t do anything silly’ and he came back and was very good. He was like riding an armchair. I wanted to be going a stride faster all the way as I thought Jimmy Du Seuil might be a faster horse. Going down the back the last time I asked him to go on and he did. I wish I could have gone around again!. I think in a more competitive race he’ll travel better. He was so lazy today which is great.

It was (scintillating), he was just so natural, wasn't he? Jumping down the back watching him taking fences in his stride. I got a little worried coming to the third-last that he was getting a little tired and I thought Jack (Kennedy on Wingmen) was getting a little closer. When they were over the third-last, Paul just gave him a squeeze and a shake, and next thing he just started opening up again. His jumping was so natural, it was fantastic. He looked it (real deal) at this minute. I mean that is just a beginners' chase, but it was still a deep enough beginners' chase. I'm hoping there is still plenty of improvement in him. He wouldn't have been wound up for today or anything. On to Christmas maybe, Dublin Racing Festival, and fingers crossed after that.

it was an awesome performance over that trip, for that horse. Paul felt he didn’t go fast enough in Cheltenham and said to Caroline (Tilsdale, part-owner) ‘today I’m going to show him off’. I saw him jumping the first and second hurdles but wasn’t happy that he was jumping well until he jumped the third. He was then getting lengths at his hurdles and for a big chaser (type) to jump the way he did when it mattered, he was electric. I thought he was going to tire due to the pace but then he’d go down to the hurdle and just take a length out of a horse behind him. If you can jump fences like that he’s one to look forward to. he hasn’t schooled over fences at home but there will be time enough next Autumn. He won his point-to-point so he’s well able to jump. To have this horse with his size and scope, these horses don’t come along too often - if we can just keep him sound. He’s not a horse you’d want to stand on your foot!

That was a huge performance, Paul was in the perfect position the whole way and when he pulled him out, it was a question of what was left in the tank – it turns out there was plenty. He was probably going better at the winning post than he had the whole way. There was a good few disappointments there but for him to be able to do that is huge. It’s a nice start but we need a few more!. Jumping the last today was the first time I realised he was a bit above average, but what he did from the last today sets him apart from a lot of other horses.

It was a huge performance, absolutely huge. Paul was in a lovely position the whole way and the horse did everything fairly right. Turning for home, when he started to niggle, I wondered what was going to be in the tank. Little did I think that he was going to have that much in the tank and he was probably going better at the winning post than he was at any part of the race. There was a good few disappointments there, including plenty of mine. For him to be able to do that on his second run over hurdles was a huge achievement.
