Demand dominant in Limerick highlight Final Demand enhanced his ever-growing reputation as he easily dismissed three rivals in the Christmas highlight at Limerick, the Guinness 00 Faugheen Novice Chase. The winner of a point-to-point at Lingstown when in the care of Matty Flynn O'Connor, the Walk In The Park six-year-old has done little wrong in the interim and is now five wins from six starts since joining Willie Mullins. Returned the clear favourite at 1/3 for this Grade 1 contest, the Bryan Drew and Caroline Tisdall-owned six-year-old made all under Patrick Mullins and jumped well throughout, ultimately easing to an eight-length win. Stable companion Gold Dancer (12/1) filled the runner-up spot, while Western Walk (100/1) ran an admirable race, finishing another two-and-three-quarter lengths back in third. Expected to test the winner, Jimmy Du Seuil (11/4) was let down by his jumping on the final circuit and finished tailed off in last. "He jumped fantastic but was very lairy on his own in front," the winning rider reflected. "I looked through my legs after the third last and saw that something had obviously gone amiss with Danny (Mullins, on Jimmy Du Seuil). After that, it was just a case of getting him home. "At the last I said just don't do anything silly, and he came back and was very good. He was like riding an armchair. "I wanted to be going a stride faster all the way as I thought Jimmy Du Seuil might be a faster horse. "Going down the back the last time, I asked him to go on and he did. I wish I could have gone around again! "I think in a more competitive race he'll travel better. He was so lazy today which is great. "We normally go to the Dublin Racing Festival (before Cheltenham) but it's great to win here. This is Limerick's big race and there is always a great crowd." Paddy Power now go 1/1 (from 11/8) about Final Demand for the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham. Willie Mullins was completing a quick treble at Limerick, having claimed the first two races with King Rasko Grey and You Proof respectively. STEWARDS REPORT The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Jimmy Du Seuil (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
