At long last. He's been knocking on the door for a long time,. I thought that the handicapper hadn't given him much of a chance because he's an older horse and hasn't won for two years. Thank God he's done it tonight. He's always shown that he has plenty of life left in him. He's a fierce genuine horse, there is never an ounce of bother with him and he's as sound as a pound. He won this race two years ago and was second in it last year. Martin Sheridan is a great supporter of ours and we have another nice filly for him at home by Kodiac. Hopefully there is another one for him here. He hops off that surface. We'll give him a couple if weeks to freshen him up, he's an easy horse to train.

He's been very consistent all year so he deserved that. He's creeping up the whole time and getting a couple of pounds for finishing second so it's hard for him. I'm glad he did win and eventually got it right. Colin rode him the last night but I just thought tonight we'd be better taking the 5lb off him and give him every chance. Dropping him back to six helped him as well. We'll keep him going.

It was a carbon copy of last year as he was drawn one. I hoped he was coming back to form. He's ground dependent. He likes it nice, not too quick, and he got the job done again. He was lucky to get the breaks today again. It's great for Martin (Sheridan) who has been a great supporter of mine.

He had a hold up after his last run and I didn't think he was fully ready,. My horses hadn't been running up to scratch but I knew they were well. I'm more delighted for his owner, Martin Sheridan (also the breeder, from Garristown), than anything else, as he's been a great supporter of mine.

Gary timed it very well and he was lucky that things opened up for him. He gave him a lovely ride and is apprenticed to us and has done very well. Shane Foley told me to drop him back in trip . we always thought he was a fast horse, the way he worked at home and in his mile races he had been using up his juice early on. We'll keep him to something similar next but I'm delighted he has now won on grass and hopefully there's more to come.
