After race at Ballinrobe Tue, 22nd Jul, 2025 (1st)  His owner/breeder Mick Cawe was one of the founding directors of the racecourse here and, along with the members, helped develop the course. From the beginning, and a lot of years ago, he raised a lot of money for the course and this win is great, although he is not well at the moment. He'll be watching at home and will be delighted, as this was the plan. In fairness to Mick, the stand wouldn't be there without him and it was the first development that we did. It was done in the early 1990s and he was one of the fellas who kept this place alive, as the course was pencilled in as being the first racecourse to close. Peter McGowran was clerk of the course here at the time and came to me one day to say that we (Ballinrobe) needed to do something awful rapid, as ye are first place to close. Mick had winners here over the years and I trained a winner for him here 20 years ago. I thought we might be going a bit soon after his run in Kilbeggan, but it was great it came off. After race at Roscommon Mon, 12th Jun, 2023 (1st)  The horse deserved it and the owner deserves it as well. Last year he ran well in a hurdle or two and picked up a little injury. It was slow coming back and he's been placed a good few times without winning. It was lovely to have James on him as well as he was out with injury and it's his first winner for me since he came back, he has had one or two other winners. Michael Cawe had a horse with me seven or eight years ago called Imperial Joey, that won a race for me, and I hadn't had a horse for him since until I got this lad so it's lovely to have another winner for him. Michael is from Ballinrobe so we'll see if there is a hurdle up there for him a little bit later in the year. It would be nice to get him close to home for him. P J Rothwell
