Only One Plan gives Cawe a boost The green and red Mayo colours were carried to victory by Only One Plan in the David Heneghan Memorial Handicap Hurdle for trainer Michael Flannery and owner Michael Cawe. The eight-year-old gelding raced predominantly in third under Conor Owens and took closer order after two out. The pair closed before the last where they jumped into the lead and galloped on by a length and a-half at 7/1 to the cheers of the crowd. Realism thundered home for an eye-catching second at 6/1 and was half a length up on Stily (17/2). This was Only One Plan's third career success as he also won a pair of handicap hurdles for Philip Rothwell in Roscommon and Downpatrick. Flannery said: "His owner/breeder Mick Cawe was one of the founding directors of the racecourse here and, along with the members, helped develop the course. From the beginning, and a lot of years ago, he raised a lot of money for the course and this win is great, although he is not well at the moment. He'll be watching at home and will be delighted, as this was the plan. "In fairness to Mick, the stand wouldn't be there without him and it was the first development that we did. It was done in the early 1990s and he was one of the fellas who kept this place alive, as the course was pencilled in as being the first racecourse to close. "Peter McGowran was clerk of the course here at the time and came to me one day to say that we (Ballinrobe) needed to do something awful rapid, as ye are first place to close. "Mick had winners here over the years and I trained a winner for him here 20 years ago. "I thought we might be going a bit soon after his run in Kilbeggan, but it was great it came off. This is also my Cheltenham." Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
