it was a brilliant performance and was nice to get it out of the way. He loved the ground, had the ears pricked the whole way and it looked like he could have gone around again. He's a very easy horse to ride so I just leave it up to Dan. He just likes to do his own thing but, if someone wanted to give us a lead, we would have been happy enough. He seems to be taking racing well, is improving and he jumped great. after the last day, we had this race pencilled in and I suppose we can make more plans now. He takes his racing well, so we will see how he is during the week and go from there. The timing of the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham would be good. He keeps improving, so you never know where he could end up.

We’ve always liked him. He did well over hurdles, and we always hoped he’d be a better chaser. I’ve been keeping my eye on this race for a long time. I remember there was only three runners in it last year and thinking it would be a nice race to aim for. He’s had a month in between each run over fences which has been ideal. He’s a very straightforward horse and we like to ride him positively. I think he jumped better the last day, but he got the job done. It’s disappointing for us that they have got rid of the three mile novice chase at Leopardstown. Limerick is 2m5f and it will probably be heavy ground so that might suit him, and we could travel as well. Staying races is his thing and there is plenty to look forward to. I still think there is loads left in him and he’s always fresh after his races. I don’t think we have got to the bottom of him.

He had had a break before Listowel so we rode him to run well then, and he had a lovely run. We were confident that he'd improve today, we kept it simple and it worked out great. He jumped very well and the last was his worst jump, which might have cost him a length or so. We were confident the track would suit him and he stayed well up the hill. I don't think we've seen the best of him yet as he is better suited by stepping back up to three miles on slower ground. . We were hoping he'd win today and then go for the Florida Pearl Chase (Punchestown), so I suppose we'll know where we stand with him then. On paper, it was an ok race today so you'd like to think he could make the step up in grade. I have this horse and Grey Jude in training and also work for Paddy Twomey. I'm under no illusions regarding training and have two nice horses now who I will concentrate on, but hopefully I can get bigger as a trainer in a few years. I'm learning a lot in Paddy's and he had a French Group 3 winner earlier today so things are going well for him.

I'm delighted to have got off the mark and for everyone involved and the horse got a great ride from Dan. It is my home track as I'm from 15 minutes out the road although I'm based in Golden, Co Tipperary. I did the trainers' course around Cheltenham time this year and I've had one other Flat runner, along with this horse. I have three riding out but just him to run until Christmas time. I'll concentrate on my own horses for the time being and see how it goes. I rode a four-timer here in 2013 which seems a long time ago and it was always a lucky track for me, so I love coming here. This horse is a novice until December so things will get tough for him although whatever he does over hurdles is a bonus as he will be a good chaser. I might look at a three-mile handicap hurdle around Christmas but today had been his target for a while. I found the race hard to watch as I was quite nervous and think it is easier to ride them - I'll leave that to Dan as he is doing a good job.

I'm delighted for Dan (King) as he was riding out with me since he was 12 and is only a mile down the road in Kilbrin. The horse loves galloping, stays all day long and I actually think he will be nicer on nicer ground. We didn't think beyond today with him. I'm mainly into pre-training and do everything. I used to break and do all of Trevor Hemming's horses and unfortunately he is a big loss to me. I'm busy at the moment but unfortunately the summer is coming.
