I'm delighted with it. It's a pleasant surprise. I'm delighted for the owners Paul Hibbard and John Phelan. They've been with me for a few years and that's their first winner. She's been a bit disappointing but they persevered with her and they've been repaid. She was struggling in handicaps and we thought we'd give her one go in a maiden, it was last chance saloon. I always thought she wanted better ground but I'd say the ease actually helped her there. Dylan gave her a super ride. He dropped in, hacked away and took his time. That's his second win in ten days for us (also won on The King Of Brega at Limerick) and he's great value for his seven pound claim. Henry De Bromhead, trainer

The Stewards requested a report from Henry de Bromhead, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Lady Of Portlairge, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Henry de Bromhead reported that this filly was on her last chance tonight and felt that a combination of factors may have contributed to the success, namely, the removal of a tongue strap, bringing her back from handicap runs to a maiden hurdle, the change in tactics to riding her tonight from off the pace and finally the level track compared to the undulations at Clonmel. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report. The Stewards requested reports from riders following the fall of Up Monaghan, ridden by A.P. Heskin after crossing the road at the paddock entrance when going out on the final circuit. A.P. Heskin reported that his mount was racing at his maximum capability when breaking a leg on a perfect racing surface for no apparent reason. L.P. Dempsey, rider of Bellas Rock, B.J. Cooper, rider of Sir Raston and K. Sexton, rider of Miracle Way, all reported that they were unavoidably brought down by the stricken horse. Having considered the reports and viewed a recording of the race, the Stewards were satisfied that the injury sustained by Up Monaghan caused him to fall and bring down the other three horses. They deemed the incident to be accidental in nature and without blame apportioned to any rider. A. McCurtin, rider of Mariens All Star trained by Ms. M.M. Gannon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was badly hampered by the horses which fell on the flat.
