The Stewards enquired into the opening of the road crossing between the last two hurdles which allowed vehicles to cross the track while horses were approaching the same area. Evidence was heard from Colin Heasley, Groundman, who was in charge of the road crossing, Brendan Sheridan, Turf Club Clerk of the Course and Mike Todd, Racecourse Manager. Colin Heasley accepted full and sole responsibility for the error and added that he became distracted by a faller on an earlier circuit of this race and had not listened for the clear signal from the Clerk of the Course as to when the gates could be reopened. He apologised for this situation which was the first time that it had happened in his ten years in this role. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards accepted that Colin Heasley had made a human error but reminded him of his responsibility to keep the gates closed until the signal from the Clerk of the Course was given to indicate that the course was clear and that the course crossings can be reopened.

A hurdle race for four yrs old and upwards that have not won more than one hurdle race since 3rd May, 2015

Allowances - Horses that have not won a hurdle race before 1st March, 2016 allowed 4lb
