He's a right auld servant, and that was kind of the plan for him all along. He ran here last night and he ran a blinder, he missed the break but he flew home and I suppose it left him right for today. Davy said it was never in doubt after he got a run up the rail, he said he was a winner halfway down the hill. If we had more like him it would be an easy job. He's ten now but he still holds a fair bit of ability. He is in the sales at Doncaster, maybe the owners will change their mind now but they might just want a fresher horse. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined The Ring Is King, trained by Paul W. Flynn, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame post race.

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won. Any horse rated above 123 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 123 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 123 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
