I rode my first winner in Killarney and that’s my biggest win. I was like a child in a candy shop yesterday when I saw my name down to ride him. He’s a very good horse and had the form to prove that as well. Frank (Berry) picked the race out. His chase wins this year were really good and he’s rated 157 over fences and 131 over hurdles so that was the reason and it was a great pot to get. He’s happier going left-handed. Darragh was a good pony race rider and he’s been with us now for the last 12 months. He’s getting plenty of experience over hurdles and fences, and he’s going the right way all right. The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the final bend involving Davids Charm, ridden by A. McCurtin, placed sixth and Boot Camp, ridden by D.N. Russell, unplaced, where it appeared that Boot Camp ran short of room and checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that A. McCurtin was in breach of Rule 214 in that he caused the incident by riding carelessly. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended A. McCurtin for 1 raceday

The Stewards interviewed S.A. Mulcahy, rider of The Granson, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that S.A. Mulcahy was in breach of R10(3)(b) by hitting his mount unnecessarily after its chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone and R10(3)(g) by using his whip with his arm above shoulder height. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended S.A

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Ms. Avena O'Keeffe, that D.F. O'Regan, rider of Lakemilan, had weighed in at 1.1lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was not made aware by the Clerk of the Scales that he was showing any overweight when weighing in and was informed at a later stage when in the Jockeys changing room. He added that he had mistakenly left the breast girth on his saddle when weighing in but would have removed it if any overweight was brought to his attention and in doing so would have drawn the correct weight. Ms O'Keeffe confirmed that she had not informed the rider of any overweight at the time of weighing in. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards gave D.F. O'Regan the benefit of the doubt and took no further action.
