Trainer Ross O’Sullivan admits he’s excited by An Fraoch Mor, and doubtless there are many more looking forward to seeing the Mahler gelding again too, given the impressive nature of his Navan success in the middle of last month.

The now seven-year-old easily accounted for Brosna George by eleven lengths at Proudstown Park, coming forward beautifully from an encouraging chase debut at Fairyhouse in November.

He was second to Debutchet over two miles then, before seemingly reveling in the step-up to two and a half miles last time.

“He’ll be entered for the Grade 3 novice chase in Punchestown on the 12th of January and there is also a rated novice in Naas later in the month. He’ll probably go for either one of those races,” said O’Sullivan.

“He’s a gorgeous horse and I absolutely love him. I just hope everything goes right with him but he’s really exciting.

“He’s a lovely big horse and they are hard to come across. He could have a very good season next year if he’s minded this year.”
