Punchestown Saturday Preview.
Punchestown hosts an all National Hunt card tomorrow, where the first of seven races commences at 2.30pm.
The Go Racing In Kildare Handicap Chase is the most valuable race on the card. Recent winner Ceannairceach was raised 5lbs after winning at Listowel in September and reopposes some of his rivals again here. Theseus (third), Khairabar (fourth) and Coq de Mirande (sixth) were all behind Ceanairceach at Listowel, and each may need to improve slightly to be involved here.
Jessica Harrington´s Mr Wong has been a frustrating sort to follow but now competes in his first handicap chase, and from a rating of 107, can provide Ceannairc each with most to worry about.
The Ingoldsby Q.R. Handicap Chase sees some of Ireland´s best amateurs in action. The Tony Martin-trained Royal County Buck was raised 5lbs after a win at Kilbeggan last month and is now partnered by Jamie Codd, whose 5lb claim offsets this penalty.
Royal County Buck is opposed by Twokay who won at the Tramore Festival in August, although Richard Harding´s mount may find this a tougher test.
The concluding Bumper looks a tricky contest with trainers Eddie Hales and John Kiely adding to the puzzle by introducing newcomers. Preference, on form, is for Lorikeet, who looks an overdue Bumper winner. Mick Halford´s four year old has filled the runner-up spot on his last two starts and may have been a little unlucky to have met a promising sort in Bacchus Prince on his last start at Listowel.
Another big run can be expected from Lorikeet here, with Banraft and He´s My Man others to note.
