Attrition ready for final run

War Of Attrition is set to make an emotional final racecourse appearance at Punchestown next week. Trainer Mouse Morris is yet to decide whether the evergreen 11-year-old will take his chance in the Ladbrokes.com World Series Hurdle on April 22nd or bid for a second victory in the previous day's Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup, a race he won in 2006. War Of Attrition, who is owned by Michael O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud, came on to Punchestown after winning the 2006 Cheltenham Gold Cup and he also won what is now the Champion Novice Chase at the Festival in 2005. Morris commented: "War Of Attrition is in nice fettle at the moment and he came out his run at Cheltenham without a bother. "We haven't decided which race to go for with him at the moment and I will discuss it with Michael (O'Leary) some time this week. "A lot will depend on the ground. We would want it softer for the hurdle option because it would slow down some of the others. He got found out a bit with his speed going round Cheltenham last time. "The Guinness Gold Cup might be the easier race for him because the Labrokes.com World Series looks like it could be very competitive. "Denman might frighten off a lot of the opposition and he might be able to sneak round - we have to be realistic with him. "It would be nice if he went out on a good run rather than finishing last. He's been a great servant to the yard - I can only remembering him running one or two bad races in his entire career - and no one can take away his wins in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup."
