Mount Benbulben got his act together over fences in great style at Thurles today as he looked a class act in the boylesports.com Chase.

Danny Mullins held the Beneficial gelding up in the early stages of the 2m2f event and he jumped well in the main bar a mistake at the fifth last. He flew the next, however, and propelled himself into contention.

The Barry Connell-owned gelding led three from home and had the field at work turning in.

Mullins stretched clear after the second last on the 11/4 shot and he produced another great jump at the final fence to seal matters.

The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding went on to record an easy 11-length success over Lastoftheleaders

Mount Benbulben was recording his second win over fences but hasn't always convinced with his jumping before today.

“We've always known that he's got a fair engine and it was just a matter of putting it together,” said Elliott afterwards.

“I'd say going right-handed and the ground not being so bad was a help. We'll stay going right-handed now.

“He'll go for the Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse and then probably on to Punchestown.”

Lambro was sent off the 10/11 favourite (from 11/10) but never made any impression and eventually finished a well beaten sixth.
