Cuneo proved too strong for the gamble Sunday At Augusta in the concluding bumper at Tramore this evening.

Henry de Bromhead's charge was gaining a deserved success having been placed on his last two starts, most recently when chasing home Rio Vivas at Navan last month.

The lead swapped several times in the four runner contest and Liam Quinlan sent his mount for home two furlongs from home.

5/2 shot Sunday At Augusta (backed from 40/1 this morning) tried to challenge inside the final furlong but the 6/4 favourite found plenty to record a two-and-three-quarter length success.

"I'm delighted with that. He got a lovely ride from Liam and he is a lovely young horse,” said de Bromhead.

“It's nice to win a bumper with him and he'll be a nice jumper next season. He'll go home now and come back to go hurdling again next season.

“He is a real nice staying type of horse for the future. He is still immature and was a bit babyish out there to be honest."

Emmet Mullins, trainer of Sunday At Augusta had been successful with Tornado Watch earlier on the card.

That horse had been backed from 11/1 into 11/4 and was reported by bookmakers earlier in the day to be part of heavily supported double with stable-mate Sunday At Augusta.

Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield said after the bumper:- “That was squeaky bum time and we're a trifle relieved.”
