The Galmont.com & Galwaybayhotel.com Handicap (Div II) went to the 8-y-o Eastern Racer (22/1) as he held the late thrust of Atlas by a head.

The winner was gaining a ninth career success, and had finished third on his previous outing at Navan.

The Bushranger gelding overcame a wide draw to get first run on the staying-on second who looked likely to get there at the furlong pole but the line came too soon for him. Phoenix Open finished third, a place ahead of the 5/2 favourite The Mpex Kid

Winning trainer Sean Byrne said: "He is a nice horse who wants soft ground and that's his ninth win. He had already won one (at Thurles last October) and was second for me and he is in again on Sunday."
