Joseph O'Brien's Fire Attack put in a smart performance on debut in the bumper at Limerick.

The Westerner gelding made good headway from the rear racing to the final three furlongs.

He tacked onto the leaders turning for home and tackled Julies Stowaway over a furlong out. He took over in the final furlong and kept on nicely to win by two lengths at 11/4.

Julies Stowaway was beaten into second at 4/1, however, he was 11 lengths in front of the gambled-on Rocconrockall who gave his backers an each-way return at 7/1 from 66/1 in the morning.

Assistant trainer Brendan Powell said: “It’s not very often we drop one of theirs (Gigginstown House Stud) out the back but he can be a little bit keen. Joseph said the main thing today was to switch him off and Tom has done a great job on him.

“He’s got gears and he kept quickening. There wasn’t too many runners which helped and he was able to switch off at the back and hopefully he’s going to have a nice future as a jumper.

“He’s earned the right to go for a winners’ bumper.”
