Kevin and James Smith combined with Son Of Hypnos to easily win the Boardsmill Sires Handicap Chase at Downpatrick.

A three-time winner on the flat, the seven-year-old also has a hurdles success to his name but was scoring for the first time over fences, on just his second run over the larger obstacles.

Well supported from 33/1 into 12/1, the gelding was always handily placed in the first three or four, before moving into contention after three out.

Smith went in pursuit of leader Attitash on the run to the last, quickly taking that ones measure before powering clear for an easy six-and-a-half length win.

Kevin Smith said: "Better ground and we waited for the ground.

"It worked out well and great for James - he is back a little while from England, so it is great for him to get back with a winner. He's back with Matthew (Smith) and is staying in Ireland for the minute.

"Onwards and upwards with him the way he has handled the ground.

"I had nothing planned beyond today."
