Philip Hobbs was pleased with the performance of Captain Chris in the Punchestown Gold Cup, despite the ground going against his charge at the County Kildare track.
The Minehead trainer felt the nine-year-old ran well for most of the three-mile-one-furlong feature on Wednesday before having to settle for fourth place behind Sir Des Champs.
"He's grand. The ground was a bit softer than ideal for him, but he has still run well for a long way," said Hobbs.
