Supreme Jet produced a game front-running performance to land the opening Owenmore Hurdle at Sligo this afternoon.

The Oliver McKiernan-trained gelding attracted support from 10/1 into 6/1 in the two-mile-one winners' contest and bounced out in front under Richie Condon.

He was pressed turning for home by Typical Thomas and got in tight at the last but the second horse and 5/6 favourite Tax For Max who had closed in third, were also untidy at the final flight.

Supreme Jet galloped on strongly on the run-in to land the spoils and record a two-and-three-quarter length success over Typical Thomas.

Condon said:- "I got a great spin off him, he jumped from hurdle to hurdle and travelled well.

"I gave him a breather after the third-last and filled him up. He made a mistake at the last but picked up well after it.

"The plan was to get him into a rhythm and, on paper, there wasn't a whole lot of pace in the race so I was able to dictate it myself.

"It's great to get a winner for Mr McKiernan who's been very good to me through the summer.

"He enjoyed himself today and hopefully he'll progress again and go forward for the winter."
