Prove The Point recorded her second career success as she ran out a surprise 16/1 winner of the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Handicap.

Successful at Sligo last May, the daughter of Arakan was placed twice since at Tipperary and Listowel respectively.

Making her seasonal debut today, she was settled in mid-division by Gary Carroll. She took closer order with over two furlongs left to race, and soon came with her challenge down the outer.

She was ridden to the front inside the final furlong, and was kept up to her work in the closing stages, going on to score by a head. Try Again who won his last three on the all-weather at Dundalk, had to settle for second under Oisin Orr for Paul Flynn at 5/1, while Our Max (16/1) was half a length back in third for Leigh Roche and Georgios Pakidis. Military Hill (9/1) completed the placings another neck back in fourth under Colin Keane for Adrian McGuinness, while the well-supported 9/2 favourite (10's last night and from 5's on-course) Not A Whisper was sixth.

Michael Mulvany trains the successful four-year-old, and he said afterwards: "We'll probably have to pull her out again now next Tuesday at Tipperary, that was the plan.

"We'll see how we get on and see how she comes out of the race and see how much the handicapper gives her.

"She was taking a step back in class today and hopefully she can step up now. She looks a bigger stronger filly this year so we're hoping she has improved.

"I thought Gary gave her a fantastic ride. He went there when he needed to go and he did everything right on her.

"Gary has done a lot of work on her so I'm delighted for him."
