With five absentees on account of the soft ground, a depleted field of ten lined up for the the James P. Cunningham Electrical Handicap and 4/1 chance Rampage came out on top under 7lb claimer James Ryan.

A winner at Leopardstown in July and beaten less than a length in his two most recent starts, the gelded son of New Bay was pushed along in third turning for home and soon moved up to challenge the leader Out On Friday Ridden to lead well inside the final furlong, the four-year-old stayed on well to get the better of that rival by a neck.

Tom McCourt trains the winner for his wife Pauline, the Whyte's Stamullen Syndicate and Stephen Sweeney.

Ryan said: "we got him from England at the horses-in-training sale and he seems to be in a good vein of form. He had been knocking on the door and was due to get his head back in front.

"We were worried about the ground but he showed us he is well able for it and this stiffer track suited."
